Adversity is something that should be tackled. Then overcome. That’s how improvement happens.
We don’t want to get bogged down with every little negative thing out there and lose ourselves in immense stress over things we can’t change. But, we shouldn’t be avoiding confrontation and improvement either.
When life sucks, it’s because of up to three things: random events in the universe (earthquake), other people (bullies, the greedy and selfish), and us (we’re also bullies, greedy and selfish).
We cannot let society continue to just serve up its bullshit negativity, its hostility and its ‘I don’t give a fuck’ attitude. And we cannot allow ourselves to be that way either. We need to look in the mirror and say: Today, I’m being the best I can be. And then going out and creating a culture where we expect that from everyone else too.
That’s not to say that we can’t make mistakes, that we have to be perfect all the time. Doing our best might not be as good as someone else doing their best. But, If we keep trying to become better people and make a better world, that’s exactly the result we get. Our best continues to get better. And so does everyone else’s.
Once we’re all doing that, life improves. It isn’t kicking our asses all the time, because we’re not treating each other like dirt as much. We’re happier, healthier, and less stressed.
